Recently, the subject of military support for Ukraine has become the subject of intense discussions in Polish society. According to the latest poll Opinion24 for Radio Zet, 53 percent of Poles do not support Poland's further transfer of arms to Ukraine. Moreover, only 29 percent of respondents believe that Poland should proceed military support for Ukraine.
The results of the survey besides indicate that the top opposition to the reinforcement of Ukraine is expressed by Confederate voters, of whom 85 percent are opposed to the handing over of more Ukrainian weapons. In turn, among the voters of the Civic Coalition, the percent of supporters and opponents of specified action is spread equally and in both cases is 40%.
The situation is different in the case of the voters of Law and Justice, where 54 percent are opposed to the transfer of more arms to Ukraine and 34 percent are in favour. It is worth noting that in the group of voters of the ruling party, there is simply a clear division in the issue of military aid to Ukraine.
Analysis of the responses of the ruling coalition and opposition supporters indicates that 37% of voters of the civilian Coalition, Left and 3rd Way are in favour of the handing over of additional arms from Poland to Ukraine and 27% of those declaring support for Law and Justice, Confederation and Together are against. The remaining group of respondents indicated the answer: "I don't know/it's hard to say".
The results of the survey were besides analysed for the declaration of who the respondents would vote in the upcoming presidential election. 38% of the voters of Rafał Trzaskowski support the movement for the re-election of Ukraine by Poland, against 42% of the supporters of the candidate of the Civic Coalition.
On the another hand, 52 percent of those declaring support for Karol Nawrocki, supported by the Law and Justice, are opposed to Poland giving more military support Ukraine; 37 percent of its voters are in favour. The most opponents of this thought are supporters of the Confederate candidate for president Sławomir Mentzen, of whom 83% are opposed. 13 percent of its voters support this action.
In the case of supporters of the candidate of the 3rd Way Simon Holownia, 35 percent of the respondents declared support for further alignment of Ukraine by Poland and 40 percent of its voters indicated the other response. The another elected candidates selected the answer: "I don't know/it's hard to say".
The survey was carried out by Opana24 commissioned by Radio ZET by telephone (CATI) and net interview (CAWI) on a example of 1,000 Poles aged 18 and more on 23-29 January 2025. The percentages were rounded to full.
It is worth noting that the results of the survey may be an crucial signal for politicians on the issue of military aid to Ukraine. Poland is 1 of the largest arms suppliers for Ukraine among the EU countries, and the issue of further military support for Ukraine is the subject of intense discussions. It is worth remembering that Ukraine is fighting for its territorial independency and integrity, and global support is crucial for its triumph in the conflict with Russia.
Therefore, the results of the survey should be taken into account in the decision-making process of Polish politicians. Assistance to Ukraine is not only a humanitarian but besides a strategical issue, and Poland should play an active function in this process.
