The Armed Forces Agency decided to cancel the tender procedure for the acquisition of another 32 S-70i Black Hawk helicopters produced by PZL Mielec. As indicated, crucial changes have occurred.


According to Polish Radio24, the decision to cancel the tender was signed in late May by the head of the Armed Forces Agency, General Artur Kuptel. The papers to which the station reached confirm the withdrawal from further purchases of these machines.

The first contract assumed the acquisition of more than 30 multi-purpose S-70i helicopters, which are already well known to the Polish armed forces.

Black Hawks from the Mielec mill are used, among others, by peculiar forces units and police services. In an authoritative letter, the Armed Forces Agency did not state the reasons for the resignation.

The above information was confirmed by the spokesperson for the Armed Forces Agency. “There has been a crucial change in circumstances that makes it not in the public interest to conduct a procedure or execute an order, which could not have been predicted earlier,” said Colonel Grzegorz Polak in a conversation with PAP, as quoted by Onet.

He besides explained that proceedings for the acquisition of equipment were conducted by the Armed Forces Agency on the basis of Central Things Plans. They were created by the highest military organs. In the Polish Army, the programming of the improvement of the armed forces and the setting of purchasing priorities is carried out by the General Staff.
