In an interview with TVN24, General Kukuła stressed that intelligence studies indicate that the Russian Federation may be able to wage war with NATO by 2030. The general pointed out that Poland's defence resources are inactive insufficient, despite the increase in the defence budget to 4.7% of GDP. Catching up is simply a long-term process.
General Kukuła stressed that the main obstacles to the improvement of the armed forces are budgetary constraints and insufficient efficiency of the arms industry. As an example of effective action, he identified arms purchases in South Korea. However, the dynamic growth of defence budgets in Europe can have a negative impact on Polish purchasing opportunities.
The arms marketplace is simply a marketplace which has not yet begun to grow fast enough, which means that acquisition prices may increase and the purchasing power of the Polish budget may fall. General Kukuła stated that more money would be needed to make defence capabilities.
As regards ammunition reserves, General Kukuła referred to General Dariusz Łukowski's statement, who stated that the army had a stock of ammunition for only 5 days of war. General Kukuła felt that this was a simplification and that we actually have any ammunition groups that we are dissatisfied with.
The first origin that affects the ammunition supply is the weapons towers that we delivered to Ukraine. The second origin is an insufficient consequence from manufacture to stock replenishment. However, there are many assortments that will let us to wage war, God forbid, even for long months.
General Kukuła presented 2 possible scenarios for developments in Ukraine. The first assumes a ceasefire on indefinite terms. The second option foresees a protracted conflict of low or average strength which will gradually destruct both sides and lead to possible future peace talks.
The hazard of armed conflict is real and requires immediate action to strengthen Poland's security. expanding the defence budget and the improvement of the armed forces are essential to increase defence capacity. Cooperation with allies and the arms manufacture is besides crucial to guarantee Poland's safety against Russian aggression.
