Evolution or revolution? We are talking about the future of the Polish Armed Forces Group SA and its subsidiaries, with Adam Leszkiewicz, who has been in charge of them for little than a month. “We will surely be in charge of the capital group, these entities will be less,” says the CEO of PGZ in the first interview given after taking the position.
Mr President, will Poland regain its ability to produce tanks?
Adam Leszkiewicz: That's a tough question. Of course we are active, we keep the ability to operate various types of vehicles, specified as at the Military Motorization Plant in Poznań or at the Mechanical Plant Bumar-Łabada in Gliwice, although of course we besides have questions about the polonization of K2 tanks. This process is ongoing, although the first violin, erstwhile it comes to these issues, is played by the Armed Forces Agency. However, we are ready to join this action to respond to the needs of the Polish army associated with the production or servicing of these tanks.
And which plants could be active in the production of K2 tanks? possibly these abilities should be distributed between respective actors.
The capital group needs to be considered here, due to the fact that it needs to be structured. We have almost 70 companies, their competences overlap partly, and I think that we are besides dealing with interior competition, which is not necessarily good in terms of business synergies and the effects we achieve. This can be proved by the opinion of our group and the anticipation of it. Therefore, we urgently request to prepare a plan that will let us to specify the competence of individual establishments so that there is no specified unhealthy competition, but that we can usage together what we have best.
In the case of the production of tanks, we are primarily talking about the WZM from Poznań, Bumar-Łabędy, specified activities are besides usually active in Huta Stalowa Wola, but besides another plants, which can execute many accompanying tasks, specified as Cegielski Plant with its competence regarding welding services, construction services. But first we gotta kind things out, it's a substance of weeks. Now we focus on identifying the strengths of each company to usage for the sake of the PGZ and the Polish defence industry.
Is this where the thought came from to combine WZM with Poznań with Cegielski Plant?
This concept was found erstwhile I took the position, but this process is in a very early stage, no decisions were made. Of course, in order to accomplish synergies, we want to combine any companies. We have, for example, PGZ War Shipyard and Nauta, but their competence does not overlap 100 percent, but it is different erstwhile it comes to subordinate HSW Jelcz and Autosan from Sanoka. specified examples can be multiplied.
Cegielski's plants surely require quite a few attention from us, first due to the fact that it is the youngest company of PGZ, due to the fact that it joined the group only 2 years ago, but besides due to its infrastructure, whose modernisation was subsidised over the years. That is why I want to convince another entities in the Capital Group that it can support them.
But we will surely kind out the full structure, the entities in the Group will be little due to the fact that we do not necessarily request those that do not deal with the strict arms industry. Of course, each of them should be active in production for the civilian marketplace as far as possible, but in a group as large as our part of the non-core players can be moved out of the group. We will analyse all this to accomplish business synergy.
