U.S. peculiar Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, General Keith Kellogg, at a gathering in Munich stressed that Europe would not be a direct associate in the negotiations on the end of the war in Ukraine. Its task is to gather the views of European countries and to include them in the decision-making process.

General Kellogg pointed out that the real protagonists in the negotiations would be Russia and Ukraine and the United States would be acting as an intermediary. European countries will not participate in direct negotiations to avoid repeating the situation of the Minsk negotiations in which Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany participated and which did not deliver the desired result.

"We had many people at the table who did not truly have the ability to enforce any kind of peace," said General Kellogg. "I know it may sound like the sound of a nail on the board, that it may be a small pinching, but I'm telling you something that's rather honest."

The negotiation process takes place on 2 paths. The first – talks with Russia – is headed by peculiar Envoy for the mediate East Steve Witkoff and the second – talks with European allies and Ukraine – Gen. Kellogg. We do not exclude the Alliance either, due to the fact that erstwhile we make a final decision on this matter, everyone will be involved, not just Europe," said General Kellogg.

The U.S.'s goal is to halt bloodshed and guarantee a lasting peace respecting Ukraine's sovereignty, which will require real safety guarantees. So far, General Kellogg cannot find what they will look like due to the fact that that is what his conversations with European partners involve.

He announced that he was going to collect opinions on this subject and then present a number of options to president Trump. He pointed out it was Trump, not him, who would make the decision. He besides stressed that, despite erstwhile statements on the exclusion of NATO or the return to the 1991 borders, nothing was "taken off the table".

Gen. Kellogg said that more specifics could be expected in “another days and weeks”, not in six months, and that he had set himself a deadline of 100 days to scope an agreement. It is worth noting that since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine more than 13,000 people have died and more than 1.5 million have been forced to leave their homes.

In the context of these data, the proceeding for peace in Ukraine is peculiarly important. According to Poland, 1 of the main allies of Ukraine in the European Union, “Ukraine has the right to sovereignty and territorial integrity”. Poland is besides an active associate of the EU Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, which aims to monitor the situation on the ground and support the peace process.

All these data and facts show that peace talks in Ukraine are highly complex and require the engagement of many parties. However, due to the suffering of people in Ukraine, the peace proceeding is highly crucial and must be a precedence for all parties concerned.
