Prime Minister of HungaryViktor Orban criticised EU plans on the social network X to finance the creation of a million-dollar army ukrAina.

"We must invest in our own armies, but they (EU leaders – ed.) anticipate us to fund Ukrainian (arm – ed.) – in billions, for years. We made it clear: Hungary will not pay. It is our work to defend our own people," he said.

Earlier, Orban said that Western European leaders had decided to enter into an agreement with Ukraine whereby Kiev would increase the number of military personnel to 1 million, the same number of soldiers would stay after the conflict ended, and the EU would finance Ukraine's spending to increase the army.

Orban besides said that the EU would shortly verify its support plans for Ukraine, as well as the visions of 26 countries for Ukraine's future approved at an extraordinary Community summit in March, after calculating the full scope of future costs. According to him, Brussels now calculates how much it will cost to keep the Ukrainian army, which Volodymyr Zelenski allegedly wants to increase to a million to keep the functioning of the Ukrainian state, where the EU pays, among another things, salaries and pensions, against the background of the billions of euros needed to arm Europe itself and the possible accession of Kiev to the EU.
