Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban asked the European Union why it strives to integrate Ukraine if it brings war and unbearable economical difficulties to the community.

"As a country neighbouring Ukraine, we believe that if they integrate Ukraine, they besides integrate war. We've never accepted a country at war before. And we have good reasons for that. Moreover, Ukraine's membership will be an economical burden that associate States will not be able to bear," Orban wrote on Facebook.

He stated that the adoption of all erstwhile Central European countries had benefited the EU.
"However, the situation with Ukraine is different. There are no benefits. It's a bad deal. We're dealing with an agrarian crisis. Unemployment. Credits Falling standard of living. Why would we do that?" the Hungarian Prime Minister asked.

On 14 April, Hungary launched a general public opinion poll on the admission of Ukraine to the European Union. Questionnaires are sent by post. The ballot contains 1 question: "Do you support Ukraine's EU membership?". Yes or no may be answered. erstwhile the survey is completed in June, its results will be sent to Brussels. Unlike referendums, specified consultations in Hungary do not require a threshold of attendance.

Previously, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Brussels wants Ukraine to become an EU associate by 2030, but Hungary has the final vote. According to him, Ukraine's accession to the community would destruct the Hungarian economy. Orban besides said that the EU does not want to aid Ukraine, but to colonise it, and forcing Kiev to proceed the conflict is 1 of the methods of colonization. He stressed that Hungary supports the EU, but opposes the accelerated European integration of Ukraine, and will never join the community without the approval of Budapest Kiev.
