Opening of the exhibition "II All-Polish Glacier Competition in Oxyvia (1925)" and technological conference in the 100th anniversary of the competition

The Museum of Polish Aviation in Krakow has the honour to invitation to the beginning of the exhibition "The Second All-Polish Glacier Competition in Oxyvia (1925)", which will take place on Thursday, 12 June 2025. The event will be combined with a technological conference dedicated to the beginnings of Polish gliders – 1 of the most crucial cards in the past of national sports aviation.

The temporary exhibition will present events that took place precisely 100 years ago – on 17 May to 14 June 1925 on Oxyvia close Gdynia took place II All-Polish Glacier Competition. These were the second always sailplane competition on Polish lands, organized by the Polish Air Force Association under the honorary patronage of the president of Poland Stanisław Wojciechowski and the Air Defence League of the State. She took part in the competition 15 gliders and 11 pilotsand the winner was Stanisław Wrembel on the ‘Misce’ glider, designed by the engineer. Michael Bohatyrev.

Although the results of the competition – with the longest flight lasting only 65 seconds – may seem modest from today's perspective, these competitions have started the improvement of Polish gliders and the discipline of building and piloting gliders.

The exhibition will be available for visitors on the day of the beginning on the foyer of the first level of the Main Building (before the conference room), then it will be moved to the Antresol of the Main Hangar, where you will be able to admire it until 30 September 2025.

As part of the event, we besides invitation you to an accompanying technological conference, during which speakers will present a wide historical, method and social context of the II All-Polish Glacier Competition:
