In his opinion, supporting Ukraine's integration with the West is in the strategical interest of Poland.

Why should Poland support Ukraine?

The blacksmith stressed that the Ukrainian army, thanks to the experience gained during the conflict, already acts as part of the North Atlantic Alliance. He believes that Ukraine's integration with the EU and NATO should be accelerated, as it is crucial for the stableness of the full region of Central Europe.

“We are talking about this due to the fact that that is how we realize the interests of Poland. This is the Polish doctrine” said the politician.

"Open the door" – but how?

The blacksmith pointed out that the process of admission of Ukraine to Western structures must be deep and transparent, without “lighters”. – "Opening the door to the EU means effective, deep negotiations, with a clear signal to our partners in Ukraine" – he said.

He besides stressed that these decisions should be taken in the long word alternatively than under the influence of momentary political sentiments. He besides pointed out the request to defend national markets from possible challenges associated with enlargement of the Union.

Is NATO ready for Ukraine?

Although the Blacksmith admitted that the planet leaders are not now in favour of Ukraine's fast inclusion in NATO, he expressed his conviction that politicians should talk "bravely" about issues that may seem unpopular today.

"The function of politicians is to say things that others do not accept for the time being" He stressed.

When will Ukraine join the West?

In Kowal's view, the pace of Ukraine's integration with the EU and NATO should be accelerated after the end of intense war. His speech at the Baltic Business Forum shows that Poland remains 1 of the most crucial advocates of Ukrainian aspirations on the global stage.
