In the run ahead of the second circular of presidential elections, most public opinion polls show very equal support for candidates. However, the latest poll, conducted by Opana24 at the request of RMF FM, shows more clear differences — and this in the crucial aspect of abroad policy for voters.

The polls show a tie in the fight for the presidency

Both Karol Nawrocki, a candidate supported by the Law and Justice, and current president of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski, keep very akin results in investigation before the second round. For example, in the survey of the United Surveys studio for Virtual Poland, Trzaskowski could number on 47.4% of support, and his rival could number on 45 percent. This means a difference of 2.4 percent points, which is within the statistical mistake limit.

Similar results came from the opinion24 poll for RMF FM – there Trzaskowski gained 47.5% and Nawrocki gained 45.9%. besides here the difference remains small, and the consequence of the competition – hard to predict.

New question: who better represents Poland in the world?

However, the latest survey by the Opinion24 for RMF FM introduces a fresh light for competition. The surveyors did not only ask for electoral preferences, but besides for the assessment of candidates' competence to represent the country internationally.

In this case, the difference was more clear. As many as 42 percent of respondents pointed to Rafał Trzaskowski as a politician who would better care for Poland's interests outside the country. Karol Nawrocki received support from 38 percent of respondents. This means a 4 percent point advantage in favour of Trzaskowski — clearly more than in the case of strictly election polls.

What about the others? 20 percent of respondents have no opinion

An interesting component of the survey is the fact that as many as 1 5th of respondents – precisely 20% – could not indicate which candidate would better execute internationally. This may indicate a low interest in this subject among any voters or a deficiency of clear conviction in the diplomatic skills of both candidates.

As RMF FM notes, for many voters, the issue of abroad policy may not be crucial erstwhile making decisions. It is besides possible that no of the candidates rise adequate assurance as an effective partner to talk to leaders of another countries.
