New Commandant CS WOT

On 21 November in barracks at Sienkiewicza Street in Toruń, there was a ceremony of handing over command of the WOT Training Centre. In the presence of the commander of the Territorial Defence Army, General Dyw. Dr. Krzysztof Stańczyk, the current commander of the Centre, Dr. Przemysław Żukowski, handed command to Colonel Marcin Piwowarczyk.

"The outgoing commandant, Dr. Przemysław Żukowski, came to the Centre with a hard mission to form and proceed CSWOT training activities and I thank him very much for the effort he put into the Centre's development, creating teaching potential, individual capacity and carrying out hard tasks for the teaching unit. The fresh commandant – Colonel Marcin Piwowarczyk as well as the soldiers and employees of the Centre, awaits the fresh challenge of continuing training activities in a fresh location in Grudziądz. However, knowing the service experience of the fresh commander, I believe that he will be perfectly able to cope with this task," said Dr. Krzysztof Stańczyk, General of the Territorial Defence Army.

During the solemn appeal, the duties of Chief of the Training Centre for Territorial Defence by Colonel Dr. Przemysław Żukowski were transferred to the hands of the fresh commander of Colonel Marcin Piwowarczyk. Celebration took place in the presence of the Commander of the Territorial Defence Army Gen. Dyw. Dr. Krzysztof Stańczyk, brigade commanders, state authorities, local authorities and chiefs, commandants and directors of the combined administration. The main point of the ceremony was to hand over the CSWOT banner - a symbol of war fame, honor and valor.

"It is simply a large honour for me to take up the duties of the Chief of the WOT Training Centre, but above all, to accept tremendous responsibility. In the close future, a period of dynamic changes related to CSWOT transfers to a fresh location in Grudziądz, as well as the improvement of erstwhile trainings and the creation of fresh courses, which will be dedicated to soldiers of the Territorial Defence Army from all over the country," said Colonel Marcin Piwowarczyk, Commandant of the WOT Training Centre.

The fresh commandant - Colonel Marcin Piwowarczyk began his military service in 1993, joining the Higher Officers School of Rocket Forces and Artillery. After promotion to the first officer's degree, he was assigned to the Higher Officers' School, where he held the positions of platoon commander and teacher from 1997 to 2003. During this time he besides graduated from the Higher School of peculiar Pedagogy in Bydgoszcz, earning a master's degree in pedagogy. He besides completed postgraduate studies at the National Defence Academy of Tactics.

He has many years of operational experience gained during the service at various levels – from sub-chapter to battalion level to brigade command. During his service, he was awarded the Golden Medal “Armed Forces in the Service of the Homeland”, the honorary title badge “Proper Soldier of the Republic of Poland” of the second degree and the Silver Medal for the Long Service.
