New exhibit in the Krakow museum

The Krakow Polish Aviation Museum acquired a fresh exhibit. It is simply a Zlin Z-42M aircraft, which was utilized for many years at the Agricultural and method Academy in Olsztyn and the Mielec Aeroclub. This is the 3rd device of this maker in museum collections. Until now, aviation enthusiasts have been able to watch Zlina Z-26 "Trainer" and Z-50LA.

The aircraft with serial number 0119 and registration marks SP-GHD was produced in 1977. The two-seat low fares, constructed in the Czechoslovak Aviation Plant Moravan-Otrokovice (now in the Czech Republic), was utilized by the "Agrolot" centre of the Agricultural and method Academy in Olsztyn and then went to the Aeroclub Mielec. Zlin Z-42M aircraft in Polish aeroclubs was utilized to train pilots at basic and intermediate levels and to learn basic acrobatics.

Prototype Zlina 42 flew around in October 1967. In subsequent years respective variants of this aircraft were constructed. The Z-42M version was created in 1974. Compared to the Z-42 production version, the Avia M137A engine was changed to a more efficient Avia M137AZ. The fresh plan features a V-503a self-propelled propeller that automatically regulates engine velocity depending on flight speed. Thanks to the modifications, Zlin Z-42M performance and flight economics were importantly improved. In 1978, a Z-142 version was produced with a more powerful engine and changed cab cover. In 1990, the Z-242, which utilized the American Lycoming AEIO-360 engine, was created.

Zlin Z-42M aircraft is simply a device that can fly at speeds: maximum – 315 km/h, minimum – 89 km/h, travel – 215 km/h. 2 fuel tanks (65 litres each) provided a flight of up to 530 km in length. The wingspan of the aircraft is 9.11 m. The device is 7.07 m long and 2.69 heights. About 150 copies of the Z-42M version were utilized in Poland, which represented 20 percent of the full planet production.

Before Zlin Z-42M, 2 another planes from the Zlin household went to the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow: Zlin Z-26 "Trainer" and Z-50LA. Zlin Z-26 "Trainer" was designed in 1946 under the direction of engineer Karel Tomas. The device with the wings of a wooden structure – subsequent versions of aircraft from this household were equipped with metallic wings – was utilized in Czechoslovakia, Romania and Poland. Over the Vistula River, Z-26 aircraft were utilized in aeroclubs for pilot training and training and as sports aircraft. For many years, they played the Polish championship in airplane acrobatics. The museum displays a machine, which in July 1974 was donated to Aeroklub Krakowski.

Zlin Z-50LA is an aerobatic aircraft constructed under Jan Mikula. Moravan-Otrokovice has been produced since 1975. The device went to the Krakow museum in 2011. Recently, it has been utilized by the “Iron” actor Group.

The Z-42M aircraft in the collection of the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow is not the only 1 in museum collections in Poland. This kind of device is besides at the Air Force Museum in Dęblin. The SP-ALN side issue exhibition was obtained from the Aeroclub Orląt in Dęblin.
