Two fresh garrisons will emergence in Ciechanów and Tarnów. That's how the draft regulation was prepared at the Ministry of Defence. According to proposals, the first of them is to be created in Ciechanów. Although the fresh tactical union is formed mainly in Podlasie, part of Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and northern Mazovia are besides to be covered. It is in Ciechanów that the command and staff of the fresh division are developed. “The current individual condition and the number of subdivisions and equipment planned in the coming years, as well as the infrastructure created in this location, allows for the implementation of tasks and efficient operation as a separate garrison,” stressed representatives of the national defence department. Upon the entry into force of the regulations, the fresh garrison will cover the city of Ciechanów and the districts of Ciechanowski, Mławski, Sierpecki and Żuromiński.
The second of the garrisons will be built in Tarnów, where the 113th Battalion of the Light Infantry 11th Małopolska Territorial Defence Brigade is based. Thanks to the formal location of the armed forces representation in the city, military cooperation with local government and residents will be easier. Soldiers will besides be able to take action in crisis management more efficiently and faster and respond to natural disasters. The formation of the garrison will besides facilitate the organisation of military honorary assistance during state ceremonies and local events. The fresh garrison, outside the towns of Tarnów and Nowy Sącz, will besides cover the districts: Dąbrowski, Gorlicki, Limanowski, Nowo Sącz, Tarnowski.
The task besides foresees changes in the territorial scope of the current garrisons. If the regulations enter into force, Giżycko will lose the territory of Olecki and the commune of Kruklanka to the garrison of Węgorzewo, and the garrison of Nisko will take over the territory of steelowowolski from Nowa Dęba. Part of the changes will be the consequence of the creation of 2 fresh garrisons. Kraków will give its east areas (including Tarnów, Nowy Sącz and Gorlick and Limanowski districts) to the recently created Tarnów garrison, and in the Ciechanów garrison there will be districts which are inactive within the territorial scope of Przasnysz: Ciechanowski, Mławski, Sierpecki and Żuromiński.
The garrison regulation was last amended in 2022. 2 fresh garrisons were formed. The first was created in Biała Podlaska, and the reason was the process of forming fresh subdivisions in Podlasie which are part of the 18th Mechanized Division and 2nd Lublin Territorial Defence Brigade.
The second of the garrisons was built in advanced Silesia, and its office became Katowice. This decision resulted, among others, from the request to guarantee a better organisation of mobilization tasks, as well as the cooperation of troops with government administration and local governments. An additional origin was the ongoing process of forming the 13th Silesian Territorial Defence Brigade.
