Today another batch of dense equipment from South Korea arrived in the port of Świnoujście. 9 K2 Black Panther tanks made 15 Giant Mechanized Brigade. This is another fresh shipment of Korean machines that the hangers will have. By the end of this year, the Polish Army is to receive a full of 180 K2 units.
The erstwhile transport of the K2 Black Panther tanks, which arrived in early May, was besides delivered to the 15th Giżycka Mechanized Brigade, and most likely further deliveries of the Black Panthers will besides be delivered to the hangers. Earlier K2 was besides given soldiers of the 16th Mechanized Division – 9 Braniewska Brigade of Armoured Cavalry and 20 Bartoszická Brigade of Mechanized.
K2 Black Panther is simply a 55-ton tank equipped with a 120 mm smooth barrel cannon, automatic charging strategy and integrated fire control system. Its auxiliary weapon is simply a 7.62 mm device weapon and a large caliber device weapon (WKM) 12.7 mm. The vehicle is powered by a 1500 hp diesel engine with automatic transmission and has a hydropneumatic suspension strategy (ISU) and a dynamic track tension strategy (DTTS).
South Korean tanks have been delivered to Poland since 2022 under an executive agreement that assumes the supply of 180 K2 platforms between 2022 and 2025. In April, the Ministry of National Defence stated that a second executive contract was being negotiated for the transportation of K2 tanks along with accompanying vehicles. The contract records include the collection of tanks in K2GF versions for the first batch and K2PL, the chassis of which will at the same time be the base for accompanying wagons, including method safety wagons, accompanying bridges and engineering wagons. The framework agreement of 2022 assumes that the Polish Army is yet to receive a 1000 K2 tanks and their colonized improvement version K2PL.
