The Thursday edition of “Rzeczpospolita” published information on the criticism of Donald Tusk's government against the grant granted to the Wprost Foundation in 2023. Government funds were intended to support the improvement of WprostUkraine.eu portal, which was designed to supply key information to Ukrainians surviving in Poland. Although the task received PLN 5 million, of which 4 million came from the budget reserve, there were serious doubts about the rationality of expenditure.

In April 2023, then Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki granted the Wprost Weekly Foundation PLN 4 million from the budget reserve. The funds were intended for the improvement of WprostUkraine.eu. The task aimed to supply applicable information and news to the Ukrainian community, which after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine came to Poland.

According to the reports of the “Rzeczpospolita”, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM) under the leadership of Donald Tusk, however, has serious reservations about how these funds were used.

Criticism of KPRM: disproportionate costs to effects

The NPRM stresses that the expenditure incurred for the task was disproportionately advanced compared to the results achieved. An example is the costs of the “Video dictionary” section. As a result, only 10 three-minute materials were created, which means the cost of almost PLN 18 1000 for each film. Another example is the “Quiza” section for which PLN 109 1000 was spent, with only 11 materials created – each cost about PLN 10 thousand.

Reservations concerning the costs of the Wprost Foundation's multimedia content

The NPRM besides drew attention to the expenditure related to the multimedia content which according to the auditors did not meet marketplace standards. The financial outlays on materials specified as quizzes and video were, according to the report, "not commensurate with marketplace conditions". This raises questions about whether public funds have been decently distributed.
