Netanyahu vs. Israeli peculiar services. Dispute over the limits of political control

The conflict between Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli peculiar services has ceased to be a dispute over personnel and work for the intelligence catastrophe of October 7. It is increasingly clear that it is about something much bigger: an effort to subordinate the safety apparatus to the political logic of the prime minister. What is at stake is whether the Israeli services will stay independent state institutions capable of telling the government the inconvenient truth, or whether they will become tools to defend the political endurance of the prime minister.
