On 11 April, 2 pre-election presidential debates were held in Koński. First, tv Republic organized on the market. The second, it was broadcast by TVP, TVN and Polsat and was held in an urban sports hall.
During the latter, Karol Nawrocki and Rafał Trzaskowski fought for questions, mainly asking each other. However, it was not without conventional failures. The candidate KO passed through and talked about an advanced network of urban "telecommunications" in Warsaw. The PiS candidate besides made a mistake – but not indicative of a slippage, and a deficiency of historical knowledge, which should not take place in the event of acting as the president of the IPN and having a PhD in history.
300 years of U.S. past according to Karol Nawrocki
During the debate, apart from putting the rainbow flag on Rafał Trzaskowski's desktop, Nawrocki asked:
The question is traditionally for Mr. Trzaskowski. Mr. Rafale, you're a fabricated political lab. A policy detached from reality. specified everyday lives of Poles. I would so like to ask you, you are inactive bringing Polish-American relations to Prince Polo's waffle. These 300 years of Polish-American relations. I wanted to ask, what do you say to your constituents at these meetings erstwhile we see that the prices of cheese, eggs, butter, oil have increased?
The problem in Nawrocki's speech is that Poland had no formal diplomatic relations with the US for over 120 years. The United States declared its independency in 1776, and Poland disappeared from the planet map as a consequence of partitions (1795-1918). Only after regaining independency in 1918 did Poland establish authoritative diplomatic relations with the US. So according to past and mathematics, we have small more than 100 years of diplomatic relations with Americans.
Internet users had no mercy. "This man has a PhD in history?".
Nawrocki's speech sparked a wave of comments on the Internet. Social media users rapidly noticed a mistake.
"This man has a PhD in history?", said net users. "In total, Dr. historian was only mistaken for ~50 years, as though not much, but it's a bit problematic," 1 of the commentators noted. "We have any strangely uneducated "doctors": Jaka, Nawrocki, Mentzen, Duda... How do they have PhDs, who pushed them through the defense?" – asked 1 of the users. "History in the PiS version", concluded Jan.
Roman Gierty besides commented on this event on Twitter: "Karol Nawrocki: Poland has a 300-year relation with the US. Oh, man. I think they taught me something incorrect in history. So the United States was created 50 years earlier than in all the textbooks?" – he ironically asked KO politician.
