Morawiecki: ‘Yes for arms – not for Brussels supervision’

The head of European Conservatives and Reformists, erstwhile Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki made available on social media a list of politicians who voted in favour of giving European bureaucrats the decision to defend Poland.

SO FOR BROTHERS – NOT FOR BRUSSELS SURVEILLANCE. Decisions on our borders, security, reinforcements and the military should be taken ONLY by Poland, not by any body or global official. It is the fundamental right and exclusive prerogative of an independent state!

What did the Members vote for?

The European Parliament in Strasbourg adopted a resolution on "enforcement of EU defence". It besides adopted an amendment proposed by the PO-PSL delegation in the European People's organization (EPP), recognising the Shield of the East, i.e. the flagship task of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, as a flagship task for EU common security.

The paper was adopted by the EP by a large majority (419 to 204). However, it is worth noting that the resolutions were not supported by the MEPs and the Confederation.

This case was criticised by leading coalition politicians on 13 December, including Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the head of the MON Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who did not vote for harmful ideas for Poland, even called it the promotion of Russia.

The paper was adopted by the EP by a large majority (419 to 204). The resolution was not supported by the Euro MPs of the Law and the Confederation. The problem is that, in fact, the MPs of the Platform and the satellite parties supported the changes to the EU treaties, which presume that defence decisions should be taken by qualified majority and Poland would be deprived of veto even in matters concerning our army.
