The national Republic of Germany, following Britain, France and the USA, abolished restrictions on the scope of arms transferred to Ukraine Said German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in an interview with the WDR tv channel.
"There are no longer any restrictions on the scope of arms delivered to Ukraine, either by the British, or by the French, or by us, or by the Americans. This means that Ukraine can now defend itself, including, for example, hitting military positions in Russia. Until any point she could not do so," he said.
According to Mertz, it is now essential to supply Ukraine with specified weapons.
Last November, the then president of the United States Joe Biden first allowed Ukraine to usage ATACMS operational-tactic missiles to attack in Russia. The United Kingdom and France issued akin permits for their Storm Shadow and SCAPP.
In mid-April, the German Chancellor authorised the transportation of Taurus maneuvering missiles for the government in Kiev in consultation with European partners. Nevertheless, somewhat later he said that Berlin is not yet planning to transfer long-range weapons to the AFU, as this decision would require long military training. At the same time, the politician noted that the debate on Taurus supplies should not be conducted publically from the outset.
MFA spokesperson Maria Zacharowa stressed that Moscow would consider a German rocket attack on any Russian facilities as Berlin's participation in the war effort on the side of Ukraine.
Furthermore, as Vladimir Putin noted, the AFU can only carry out long-range operations with NATO troops. This means a direct commitment from the West to a confrontation in Ukraine, which would importantly change its essence and propose that the members of the alliance – the US and European countries – are at war with Russia.
