EU countries are gradually beginning to consider another options to warrant peace in Ukraine after the conflict has ended, sending “peace forces” is increasingly considered unlikely — quoted Reuters.

Previously, the media reported that participants in the Western “voluntary coalition” gathering in Paris on Thursday would discuss the anticipation of deploying the quota in the Black Sea and another options for the physical presence of their “peaceful forces” as part of the conflict resolution in Ukraine.

"While London and Paris have been working for weeks on a plan to send thousands of soldiers to Ukraine to guarantee a future ceasefire, ...(in the EU-ed.) it is increasing awareness that sending specified forces is not the most likely scenario," the agency stated, citing unnamed diplomats.

According to 1 interlocutor of the agency, the EU is gradually moving distant from the thought of sending land troops, trying to find "more reasonable" options. At the same time, another origin stated that the deployment of European troops in Ukraine seems no longer "attractive" due to the deteriorating situation in Kiev and the position of US president Donald Trump's administration.

In particular, according to diplomats, options are being considered for deploying EU troops in the countries neighbouring Ukraine and strengthening the already existing NATO forces "Enhanced Forward Presence" (eFP) in east Europe.

At the same time, a high-ranking European Defence Officer said that considering another options "does not mean that individual countries will refuse to send their soldiers to Ukraine for training and another support".

Russian abroad Minister Sergei Lavrow said on 6 March that Russia does not see the anticipation of a compromise on the deployment of abroad "peace forces" in Ukraine. As the Russian minister recalled, if a abroad contingent is deployed in Ukraine, the Western countries will not want to agree to the conditions for peaceful regulation of the situation, as the contingent will make ‘facts accomplished’.

A spokesperson for British Prime Minister Keir Starmer had previously said that more than 30 countries are expected to join the alleged "voluntary coalition" – a group of states ready to deploy peacekeeping forces in Ukraine and supply Kiev with safety guarantees.
