The Sejm passed an amendment to the Act on Friday, which will reduce the wellness premium for entrepreneurs from 2026. Now the fresh goes to the Senate. 213 Members voted in favour of the amendment, 190 voted against and 25 abstained. The regulations were supported by KO MPs, including wellness minister Izabel Leszczyn, who had previously announced that she would vote against, as well as Polish 2050 and PSL politicians. Against were the MPs of the Law and Justice, the Left and the Circles Together. The Confederation abstained.
Janusz Cichoń confirmed to PAP that there was club discipline in the KO on voting on the bill. — It was a program declaration by the civilian Coalition. In specified matters we keep discipline,” he stressed. He added that Minister Leschina was not jealous of the situation. “In my opinion, the minister had no another choice but to vote in favour of the bill, which was written by the government,” said Cichoń.

Sterczewski broke out.
When asked if it would be a problem to find PLN 4.6 billion in the state budget to compensate for the smaller revenues to the NFZ, Cichoń replied: “We presume that we will have a small more money at our disposal than this year and consequently we will be able to spend more on health”. He added that next year, due to higher economical growth, the gross of the state budget should be considerably higher.
There were 152 members of the club KO, including the Minister of Health, in favour of adopting the fresh rules. In March, Lestina announced that she would surely not vote for a simplification in the wellness contribution for entrepreneurs, as the NFZ "will surely not bear it". 1 Mr Franciszek Sterczewski abstained and 4 Members were absent. It is worth noting that Sterczewski had broken out of discipline before, even erstwhile voting on the EU Reconstruction Fund.
After the vote, Minister Leszczyna said her vote against the bill would be a vote of distrust towards her own Prime Minister. She stated that she had assurances from the Minister of Finance and the Prime Minister that "NFZ would not lose a single euro" and that the full NFZ failure would be compensated by the state budget. erstwhile asked what means this money would come from, she replied that it was a decision by the Minister of Finance.
