The improvement of space technologies changes the face of modern military activities. On 9 December 2025, specialists from the ARGUS Satellite Operations Centre conducted training for representatives of the Polish Armed Forces, devoted to the usage of space domain products in planning, conducting and supporting military operations.

Space Getting Closer to the Army
The dynamic improvement of space technologies and their widespread usage in defence activities make space 1 of the key areas for state safety today. Satellite systems support both military and non-military actions from reconnaissance, warning, communication, and crisis monitoring. Their importance grows especially in the modern battlefield, where access to fast, reliable information can find the effectiveness of operations during peace, crisis and war.
In consequence to these needs, Colonel Maciej Wereszczyński, Head of the Operations Branch of the Centre for Satellite Operations (COS) ARGUS, prepared and conducted training for representatives of the Armed Forces of Poland on 9 December 2025. Lectures took place in the hall of the Faculty of Electronics of the Military method Academy of the University of Technology, which has been an crucial centre of support for the improvement of Polish defence and technological competences. It was an unprecedented event on the scale of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland.The first training of this type, which gathered an exceptionally many number of participants, including representatives of the most crucial commanders, staff and tactical unions of the SZ of the Republic of Poland.
What possibilities do space domains offer?
During the training, experts from COS ARGUS, together with representatives of the Imaging designation Centre and the office of the Cyberspace defence Army, presented a wide scope of satellite products and services that already support the activities of the SZ of the Republic of Poland, whose function will grow systematically. Among another things:
– stages of implementation of the space operational domain in the SZ RP;
– types of satellite imaging, their characteristics, advantages, disadvantages and limitations;
– space domain products supplied by COS ARGUS, supporting decision-making and analytical processes;
– the current state and prospects of improvement of satellite communications in the Armed Forces of Poland;
– developing the ability to admit the satellite possible opponent.

Participants had the chance to learn about the latest capabilities resulting from the improvement of Polish satellite programs and the ongoing process of building the capabilities of the Satellite Operations Centre and the Satellite Support Centre, which in the coming years will importantly increase the autonomy of the Polish Armed Forces in obtaining data from space.
Space as an operational domain
As pointed out by the host, space present is an integral component of command, recognition, communication and navigation systems. Satellite data is the foundation of support for the actions of land, air, naval and cyberspace forces. Faced with the expanding hybrid threats and the complexity of modern operations, the improvement of competence in this domain is crucial for building the resilience and informational advantage of the state and in planning and implementing multi-domain operations.
The training ended with an open discussion on future cooperation directions, support for activities in another operating domains and preparation of the personnel of the SZ RP to operate and usage modern satellite systems.
COS – building the competences of the future
The ARGUS Satellite Operations Centre has consistently pursued the mission of developing national capabilities in the space domain, both through the support of key systems and the transfer of expertise to representatives of all types of troops.
Regular training becomes 1 of the key tools, thanks to which the Polish Armed Forces can not only keep up with the pace of technological development, but besides consciously exploit their possible – present and in the coming years.
