In fresh years, the Marine Border defender Branch has carried out a wide-ranging control action, which revealed worrying statistic on illegal residence of immigrants in Poland. Of the 119 persons inspected, as many as 31, or more than 1/4 of the group, violated the rules on entry and residence in the country. Among them were citizens of various states, including Afghanistan, Albania, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Colombia, Nigeria, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
Illegal border crossing and deficiency of documents
According to the portal konty.pl, Border defender officers established that 6 foreigners did not have the required papers to be allowed to reside in Poland, and 22 people illegally crossed the state border. Moreover, the individual data of 3 migrants were included in the list of foreigners whose stay in Poland is considered undesirable.
"Some of the controlled foreigners crossed the Polish-German border line and were returned by German safety services. The deficiency of papers authorising them to cross the border was not a problem for them to break regulations. However, specified behaviour did not escape the attention of our officers, who immediately took appropriate action," we read in the account.
Immigrants on the move: foot, bus, train
In the course of the inspection, it turned out that immigrants were most frequently on foot, and any of them tried to get to Germany by bus or train. 1 of the most interesting cases was the detention of a citizen of Albania, who returned by ferry from Sweden. In the course of the operations, it was established that the man voluntarily left the flag ship of Liberia and then illegally crossed the boundaries: from Poland to Sweden and back.
Adverse reactions in Poland
The surveyed besides included foreigners whose stay in Poland was declared undesirable. 1 of the Georgians had a final court ruling on driving an intoxicated vehicle, with a akin situation affecting Ukrainians in Kolobrzeg. Moreover, border guards from the SG Office in Elbląg controlled Ukrainians leaving the Criminal Institution in Sztuma, whose criminal past was the reason for listing his data on the list of undesirables in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
Expulsion and return: vicious circle
This situation shows that the expulsion of foreigners and their inclusion in the list of undesirables do not always bring the expected results. Many of them return to Poland without major problems, which is simply a challenge for the services liable for border security.
"In the face of foreigners, decisions on the work to return have been made, inter alia, for the defence and safety of the state and the protection of public order. They were placed in the Guarded Centers for Foreigners. The Ukrainian is inactive under investigation,” the Communication stressed.
Summary
The inspection carried out by the Marine Border defender Branch revealed serious problems with illegal immigration and deficiency of effectiveness of certain control mechanisms. In view of the expanding number of cases of illegal border crossings and return of undesirable persons, it appears essential to strengthen global cooperation and to introduce stricter legal solutions.
