As revealed by the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal, the US conduct confidential talks with Russia to halt Moscow from utilizing atomic weapons and to reduce the escalation of war. In contacts with Kiev, they want Ukraine not to close to possible peace negotiations, although the issue of specified talks is very complicated due to Russia's genocide policy. Zelenski stated that it was crucial to get Russia to "real peace talks".
