Several hours after a loud interview in Polsat News, the talker of the Sejm Simon Holovnia issued a peculiar message explaining what he meant by being urged to “attack the state.” "I have been offered many times whether or not I have been suggested, asked whether I am ready to carry out a coup, due to the fact that that is what it comes down to," said Holownia. Earlier, Prime Minister Donald Tusk commented on the words of the talker of the Sejm, who stated that "unserious behaviour or careless words can origin very serious consequences."

"Since the second circular of presidential elections won by Karol Nawrocki, in the public space, expectations were repeatedly formulated for me not to accept the verdict of voters, not to convene the National Assembly to curse the President-elect, or to do obstruction by announcing breaks in the Assembly, called for unconstitutional takeover of the President's duties, or yet – to order fresh elections," wrote Szymon Holownia in his private account on X.

"All these suggestions, which come to the public, I answered unequivocally, and in accordance with the law: presidential elections are entitled to a presumption of validity, all cases of irregularities in the electoral process must be explained by prosecutors' proceedings, there is no factual and legal basis for not convening the National Assembly and taking oaths from the recently elected president of the Republic of Poland", said the talker of the Sejm.

He stressed that "in the current situation", the continuity of the authority over the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland should be maintained and the continuity of power and stableness of the institutions of the State should not be undermined.

"It has been almost 2 months since the presidential election. I call on both sides of the political dispute not to search plots where there are no conspiracies, on the another hand – not to question the democratic verdict of voters, no substance what emotions it stirs" - he appealed at the end of Holownia.

Hołównia: Many times I was asked if I was ready to carry out a coup

The message is the aftermath of a media storm that broke out after the talker of the Sejm spoke during a performance on Polsat News on Marcin Fijolek's show. At the time, Holovnia stated that “he was repeatedly offered or suggested, asked whether he was ready to carry out a coup, due to the fact that that is what it boils down to”.

"I call it a coup. Of course, this does not meet the criteria of a likely legal coup, but I am talking about a coup, in terms of the situation in which the president was elected, and I am saying: I do not like this President, I may not curse him" - he explained in an interview with writer Polsat News.

Tusk comments on Holowna’s message about “the coup”

Even before making a message explaining the word "state attack", on Saturday, July 26, during a gathering with the inhabitants of Pabianic (Łódź province), Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed them.

“I was coming to you, and I wondered how to comment on Simon Holown’s words about the coup. present there are many comments on the words of the marshal (...). Unserious behaviour or foolish words can origin very serious consequences. That's what we say to children and politics is the same. This has consequences for people, for full countries," said the head of government.
