The hero returned to Poland, who devoted his full life to the service of his country – said the participants of the burial ceremony of General Kazimierz Kruszewski, commander of the Border defender Corps from 1930 to 1939. The officer's ashes were brought from France to Poland in early September. The celebrations form part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the COP.

– With large emotion we welcome back to Poland after 85 years of hero, soldier, especially the boy of the Republic – said president Andrzej Duda in the Polish Military Department in Warsaw during the ceremony of the second burial of General Kazimierz Kruszewski, commander Border Protection Corps. The General's ashes were brought from France in early September. Today's celebrations are part of this year's celebration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the COP.

The president recalled that in 1930, Gen. Kruszewski was appointed commander of the Border defender Corps and was the main implementer of the improvement of the COP, which was to supply Poland with strategical cover from the east after the reorganisation. – As the most dangerous and deadly for Poland, the general considered the russian attack. That is why this part of our borders was concentrated in particular," said Andrzej Duda. As he added, thanks to the organizational work of the commander, the Border defender Corps was able to save a glorious card while Soviet aggression September 17, 1939.

– Tonight we will escort the General to his final resting place. It is simply a worthy place for a large hero, a defender of the homeland, a dedicated soldier, a wise officer and a general, a capable commander who not only cared for Poland, but besides for his soldiers – the president concluded. During the ceremony, the head of the armed forces handed over to the household typical Gen. Kruszewski an act of appointment to the rank of Major General.

Tomasz Siemoniak, Minister of Interior and Administration, besides spoke about the fact that General Kruszewski's biography is simply a model for many Poles. There was nothing more crucial to him than his homeland. We will guarantee that the memory of him lasts long years – the head of the Ministry of abroad Affairs assures. He besides added that the Border Guard, which inherits the 100-year tradition of the Border defender Corps, needs patterns specified as Gen. Kruszewski.

The ceremony mass in the Field Cathedral was presided over by Polish bishop Wiesław Lechowicz. The ceremony was besides attended by Dr. Karol Nawrocki, president of the Institute of National Memory and General Dyw. SG Robert Bagan, Chief of Border Guard.

Gen. Kruszewski besides received his tribute yesterday from Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence. The head of the MON prayed in front of the coffin with the General's ashes at the Katyn Field Chair Chapel. "After nearly 50 years, his remains were brought to the country from France. A hero returned to Poland, who devoted his full life to the affairs of the Homeland," wrote the Deputy Prime Minister on social media. Kosiniak-Kamysz thanked the Boy Scouts for exhibiting an honorary post at the coffin, and the Border defender officers present in the chapel for remembering the commander of the COP.

After mass, the General's remains were laid down in the Affluent Military Cemetery Avenue in Powązki.

At the head of the COP

Gen. Dyw. Jan Kazimierz Kruszewski "Kruk Black" was born in 1888 in the village of Aleksandrowo in the territory of Ciechanowski. He studied medicine at the University of Geneva and then in Kraków. In 1914 he joined Polish Legions and in their ranks he participated in planet War I, including commanding a company in the 1st Infantry Regiment.

After the war, he served in the reborn Polish Army, where he was, among others, the commander of the 1st Legion Infantry Division. In October 1930, he headed the Border defender Corps and served this function until August 1939. In his time there was the most serious reorganization of the COP which aimed to adapt the formation to defend the east border of Poland.

During the 1939 defensive war, Gen. Kruszewski commanded the Operations Group in the “Prussy” Dewatering Army. On September 27, Piaski was taken into German captivity, including Murnau VIIA, until April 1945. After his release, he settled in France. He died in 1977 in the home of the Peaceful Old Age of the Polish Humanitarian Fund in Laily-en-Val and was buried in a local cemetery.

The initiator of General's return to Poland was Marek Szypulski, president of the Polish Humanitarian Fund in Laily-en-Val. And in bringing drugs to the country included: Border Guard, Association of Veterans of Polish Border Formations and Institute of National Memory. General Kruszewski's remains were exhumed on 31 August and transported to his homeland in early September.

Yesterday, a coffin with the ashes of the commander of the COP was exhibited in the Chapel of the Katyn Field Chair of the WP, where 1 could pay tribute to the general. The honorary assistant was performed by youth from the Scouting Border Service teams. There were besides lectures for students of uniform classes and scouts dedicated to Gen. Kruszewski and the past of the Border defender Corps.

100 years ago, September 12, 1924, General Władysław Sikorski, the Minister of Military Affairs issued an order to establish the COP. This was to be an elite formation of the Polish Army intended to defend the east and south-eastern borders of Poland. The COP was subject to the Ministry of the Interior, which was intended to facilitate the formation of cooperation with the state administration and another safety authorities. General Henryk Minkiewicz was the first commander of the COP. During the interwar period, KOP troops protected borders with the USSR, Lithuania and Latvia, inter alia, by fighting russian diversional-terrorist activities. In September 1939, Corps soldiers fought against the Germans on many episodes of the Western Front, and on September 17 they were the first to face the Red Army's aggression.
