The ninth edition of the Freedom Games, a unique interdisciplinary forum held all year in Łódź, was the largest and most prestigious of all erstwhile ones. For 2 and a half days Łódź became the actual capital of democratic values, and in the blood of the city there was a spirit of free ideas.
Over 9 years, the Games have become an ever-increasing year-on-year event nationwide and international At the same time. On six scenes, located in the centre of EC1 - restored power plant - appeared almost 400 Speakers and Speakers, among which were many prominent personalities, including Dr. Jane Goodall, Etgar Keret, Martyna Wojciechowska, Rafał Trzaskowski, Timothy Garton Ash, Jolanta Kwasniewska, Mariusz Szczygieł, Johan Norberg, Adam Bodnar, Krystyna Kurczab-Redlich, Joanna Ostrowska, Adam Michnik, Robert Makłowicz and others.
The event consisted almost one 100 sessions: discussion panels, circular tables, literary meetings and lectures, enabling speakers and the public to exchange views and debate on issues specified as climate crisis, equality, business, economy, the future of Europe and the European Union, safety challenges, changes in the energy sector, feminism, culture or animal rights.
However, the leading subject of this year's edition was"Green Independence". In today's world, green transformation is at the same time green independence, and our climate and ecological goals – as never before – are identical to geopolitical ones. So we talked about The influence of war in Ukraine on green transformationand o Green growth as an chance for Central and east EuropeWe asked the question, how to counter populist opposition to green transformationAnd we wondered, What war in Ukraine changes in our moral compass.
Games are especially peculiar Community experience, for years as an egalitarian platform for exchange of ideas and views. This year the event took part more than 2.5 1000 participants and participantswho co-founded the forum, enriching the debates with their questions and comments (also from the screens of their computers).
