Elections 2025: List of candidates closed. Who's gonna fight for the presidency?

On Friday at 16:00, the deadline for submitting the required 100,000 signatures of support for candidates for the office of president of the Republic of Poland expired. The State Election Commission has started the process of verifying notifications and any names have already been officially approved. Who's on the list?


Approvals of candidates – PKW list

At this point, PKW confirmed the registration of 11 candidates who met all formal requirements. These are:

  • Sławomir Mentzen,

  • Grzegorz Braun,

  • Rafał Trzaskowski,

  • Artur Bartoszewicz,

  • Karol Nawrocki,

  • Adrian Zandberg,

  • Simon Holovnia,

  • Marek Woch,

  • Joanna Senyszyn,

  • Magdalena Biejat,

  • Marek Jakubiak.

They have collected adequate signatures, which have been verified and approved by the PKW, so that their names will surely appear on the ballot cards.

Candidates inactive waiting for the PKW decision

Not all the reports have yet to be processed. The election committee is inactive examining the documentation provided by respective candidates. In case of Maciej Maciaka PKW detected formal errors and asked his staff to remove them.

In addition, the signatures of the support submitted to the following persons have not yet been full verified:

  • David Jackievich,

  • Wiesław Lewicki,

  • Romuald Starosielec,

  • Paweł Tanajno,

  • Krzysztof Stanowski.

PKW has time to 28 Aprilto supply a final list of candidates who will be given the right to run in elections. Until then, it is uncertain whether all applications meet the formal requirements.

Dates of the presidential election 2025

The first circular of presidential elections will be held May 18, 2025. If no of the candidates gain more than 50% of the vote, the second circular will be held 1 June.

The recently elected president will take office 6 AugustWhen the second word of office of current president Andrzej Duda ends.

According to the State Election Commission data, as of 31 December 2024, the right to vote has about 29 million citizens.
