President Andrzej Duda told journalists in Vilnius on Monday that he hoped Tuesday evening, immediately after returning from his visit to Lithuania, to meet with president Elekt Karol Nawrocki. Nawrocki's triumph was described as "indisputably unambiguous".
PKW announced on Monday the consequence of the 2nd circular of elections - supported by the Law and Justice, Karol Nawrocki obtained 50.89 percent of the vote and won the presidential election. KO candidate Rafał Trzaskowski received 49.11 percent of the vote. Turnout was 71.63 percent.
"I hope that I will have the chance to meet the President-elect next day night, with Karol Nawrocki, immediately after my return from Vilnius, immediately after the B9 gathering and after meetings with the president (Lithuania) Gitanas Nauseda, which will take place next day in the bilateral expression of Poland-Lithuania" - said the President, who has been visiting Vilnius since Sunday.
He added that he would return to Warsaw on Tuesday evening. "And I hope that right away, right after, I will have the chance to meet Karol Nawrocki" - said Duda. He recalled that he had already congratulated election winners through social media
The president again thanked all Poles who participated in the elections. He recalled that he called for election attendance to be as advanced as possible and added that it was indeed very high. He pointed out that more than 10 million votes were cast for each of the participants in the 2nd round.
"Unquestionable" triumph
According to him, Nawrocki won "a very crucial advantage" with 370 1000 votes. "This is simply a large Polish city"- stated. He assessed that therefore Nawrocki's triumph is "disputably unambiguous".
Duda expressed his satisfaction with the result of the election. He assessed that the support of Poles for Nawrocki, who announced that he would proceed the de facto policy which he "received" from president Lech Kaczyński and implemented for years, shows, that this is "the policy that suits Poles".
According to him, in the Sunday vote Poles chose the direction of "building close relations between Poland and the United States, on this basis of our security, and besides on strengthening our safety by strengthening our Polish army, through the spending on defence, through thus building the strength of our state". He added that it is besides a direction which assumes "equal improvement of Poland".
The president of Lithuania, in an interview with journalists in Vilnius, congratulated Nawrock and expressed hope that in the close future he would be able to discuss with him "not only neighbourly matters, but besides our approach to Russia or NATO". "I hope that Poland's trajectory on European institutions will not change" - added Nauseda.
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte besides congratulated Nawrock and expressed his hope for fruitful cooperation on the Alliance.
