Donald Tusk hits the PiS. “Only Russian supporters voted against”

The entry of Prime Minister Donald Tusk is simply a consequence to the Wednesday vote in the European Parliament on the resolution on strengthening the defence of the European Union. It besides voted on an amendment recognising The Shield of the East, thus a task to strengthen the east borders of Poland, introduced by the Donald Tusk government, as a flagship goal for Europe for the common safety of the EU.

"Only Russian supporters voted against in the European Parliament. In this... PiS! No more illusions”, wrote Donald Tusk.

The vote on the amendment "against" was based on: Tobias Bocheński, Joachim Brudziński, Adam Bielan, Waldemar Buda, Michał Dworczyk, Patryk Jaka, Mariusz Kamiński, Marlena Maląg, Arkadiusz Mularczyk, Piotr Müller, Małgorzata Gosieńska, Daniel Obietek, Beata Szydło, Dominika Tarczyński, Kosma Zlotowski, Bogdan Rzoniec, Jacek Ozdoba, Maciej Wąsik, Anna Zalewski and Jadwiga Wiśniewska.

The European Parliament adopted by a large majority (419 to 204) a joint motion for a resolution on strengthening European defence, proposed by 5 political groups, the European People's organization (EPP), which includes a delegation of PO-PSL, Social Democrats (S&D), European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), which includes the PiS, Liberals from Europe and the Greens. In particular, we are talking about the provisions that, according to the EP, should be included in the European Commission's White Paper on the future of European defence.

EP Resolution on the Shield East. "Unprecedented Amendment"

As part of the resolution, the EP besides adopted unprecedented amendment No 87, proposed by Polish delegation PO-PSL in the European People's organization and recognising the Shield of the East, or the flagship task of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, as a flagship task for the common safety of the Union.

The adopted amendment underlines that the protection of the EU's land, air and sea borders contributes to the safety of the EU as a whole, and in peculiar its east border.
The paper states that The east and Baltic Defence Line shields should be EU flagship projects to support deterrence and overcome possible threats from the east.

PO MEP Michał Szczerba described the EP's adoption of the amendment as "historical moment“and recognised the support of the home for the Shield East, which is the Tusk initiative and the precedence of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council, as a clear signal that "Poland sets the direction of reasoning about security". "The amendment of the PO and PSL delegation confirms that we are effective, we have influence and we carry out the topics we have committed ourselves to," said the politician.
