With the European Union grant under the "RampUp4Desamet" project, fresh Dęby increased the level of automation of 155-mm artillery shells, importantly expanding the number of bullets produced. The summary conference was attended by Andrius Kubilius, EU Commissioner for Defence and Space.
Owned by Polish Armed Forces Group Desamet SA is 1 of the many European companies that decided 2 years ago to take advantage of the financial resources launched by the European Union under the ASAP (Act on the Promotion of Ammunition Production) to increase their capacity in terms of Manufacture of ammunition 155 mm. The Union to a two-year task (June 2023 – June 2025) worth €4.7 million, under which Desamet committed to automating the production of 155mm projectiles, upgrading plant infrastructure, improving metalworking processes and training staff, contributed €2.13 million in grants.
On 6 June, a one-day conference was held at the Local Culture Centre in Nowa Dęba summarizing the RampUp4Dezomet task "The Future Is Today. The improvement of the defence manufacture and its key function in ensuring the safety of EU citizens." The guest of honour was Andrius Kubilius, Commissioner for Defence and Space of the European Commission. In his speech, he stressed that expanding the number of artillery manufactured in Europe is 1 of the most crucial EU priorities. – Russia now produces 4 times more ammunition than the United States and all European countries combined. Thanks to the ASAP project, the associate States of the European Union will increase their yearly production of ammunition from 300 000, as it amounted to 2 million units in 2023 this year," said the Commissioner, praising the effort Desamet has put into developing its capabilities.
Kubilius declared that changes in financing of the arms industry, so that more resources will be allocated to the east states of the NATO flank, straight bordering Russia and Belarus.
