An innovative device for quantum optical cryptography, a low chassis semitrailer that can handle even in the most hard terrain, a simulator for training full divisions of KTO Rosomak and a very light, modular, remote-controlled weaponry module – these are products that close the list of Defender award winners in Kielce.

At this year's global Defence manufacture Salon, the jury awarded 10 Defender Awards. present we present the last 4 products awarded by military experts, government representatives, armed forces and uniformed services. As always for the competition committee the most crucial was innovation, originality and increased level of safety of soldiers. Who else deserves the laurels? The arms fair in Kielce?

RECLAMA

Quantum cryptography

Telecommunications experts stress that the spread of quantum computers will mean serious problems for military cryptography. The cipher, which can take years to break utilizing a conventional computer, will be able to decode quantum technology machines in seconds. That is why investigation institutions around the planet are working on, among others, the usage of quantum systems for coding (not decoding) information.

One specified solution could be seen on this year's MSPO. A consortium composed of: Military method Academy – Optoelectronics Institute (leader), Teldat, technological Academic Computer Network – State investigation Institute, developed a strategy of modular quantum optical cryptography systems. It was first presented publically in Kielce.

As the consortium explains, this is simply a solution designed to defend the communication networks that usage fibre optics to transmit data. The cryptographic strategy developed by Polish engineers consists of 3 innovative elements: quantum distribution strategy of code key for users, quantum random number generator (i.e. code key) and optical phase coding system. The strategy is designed to operate in specified a way that it will not only defend the transmitted information from decoding, but will besides notify erstwhile anyone wants to "elope" the fibre controlled by us. This will let the emergency communication channel to be immediately closed.

Agile semitrailer

Another awarded product is developed by engineers from the company Demarko S.A. low chassis semitrailer ST 775-24W.H-PA. Representatives of the company emphasize that the aim of investigation and improvement work on this structure was not so much to make a set where you can transport the heaviest, weighing more than 70 t, military vehicles (e.g. tanks), but to build a structure that will deal with the most hard terrain.

That is why the seven-axle semitrailer has a full adjustable independent suspension, six torsion axles and a hydraulic adjustment of the coupling tallness from 1250 to 1650 mm. Importantly, the trailer operator may adjust the tallness of each side of the vehicle separately as required.

Training networking

How to Improve simulation training in the Rosomaki? The answer is simply a network-centric command module of a comprehensive simulator to train sub-chapters equipped with KTO Rosomak. The equipment awarded by Defender was developed by a consortium of Autocomp Management Sp. z o.o. and the Military method Institute of Armed Forces.

The engineers who were active in this task indicate that it was created for the needs of the Polish army and its training capabilities concerning the crews of KTO Rosomak. The thought of the module operation is very simple. The Rosomak simulators located in various training facilities spread across Poland are connected with each another through military ICT networks. This allows to organize tactical exercises at the same time, for example, the full Rosomak brigade, not only tiny subdivisions – plutonium or companies.

Modular turret

This year's Defender has besides earned the product of specialists from the AREX Automation and measurement Equipment Department, which belongs to the WB Group. The distant weapon module ZMU-05 convinced the jury, among others, with its innovative and universality.

ZMU is simply a group (models ZMU-03, ZMU-05 and ZMU-07) of automated turrets that can be equipped with a variety of fire agents – from 5.56 mm device guns to 30 mm cannon to 40 mm grenade launchers and anti-tank missiles. As the representatives of the WB Group emphasize, what distinguishes ZMU from competition is simply a tiny weight. The model with a 12.7 mm firearm weighs only 200 kg, thanks to which the tower strategy can be installed even on tiny platforms specified as land drones.

The ZMU turrets can be equipped with advanced optoelectronic and electronic systems, depending on the customer's needs, which can, for example, indicate their own targets for destruction.
