Fourteen – goodbye to the legend

They entered service in the 1980s, being in the world's top chopper for combating submarines. Due to the saturation of modern systems, the airmen compared Mi-14PŁ to the space shuttle Columbia. After 4 decades, they retire. They will be replaced by a much more modern AW101.

For Navy Air Force pilots, working with these machines was an adventure of life. They called it a flying power plant, due to the fact that so much energy was needed for all the equipment installed on board. But today, the airmen ending the oak school of Orlath no longer can read descriptions of these devices – they are in Cyrillic. The russian “supertechnique of the 20th century” replaces the modern Italian-British AW101.
