On the weekend, the large offensive of the Confederates began. A clear message went to the media: The Germans are dropping off immigrants. The government can't handle it, but the Law and Justice are no better than Tusk.
“We waited to decision on with the charge”
In the case of the Confederacy, specified communicative is nothing new. But so much anti-immigrant entries and statements from Mentzen and Bosaka are a signal that Confederates are playing an additional game here. - What do you want me to say? Of course we had a gathering at the Confederate. We discussed the best possible approach to immigration, which is absolutely crucial for our electorate,” Onet says.
“Yes, we have increased immigration due to the fact that we see what is happening on the border with Germany. We have quite a few signals from the Border defender that it has not been so bad in a long time,” he adds.
One of the crucial politicians of the National Movement (one of the parties that forms the Confederation) tells us directly: “For many years as the National Movement we have been waiting for the subject of immigration to become so crucial in Poland. We were waiting for our minute to start with the charge. And that's what's happening. A political game is important, but we truly read large emotions in our electorate. The Western border is 1 thing, but there's a case, for example Venezuelan from Toruń and the question of immigrant integration centres. In our electorate it's very hot.
Confederates feel their chance
But Confederates for specified an excessive activity were further pushed by protests of the disputed nationalist Robert Bąkiewicz (will be about it below) and the actions of the PiS itself. Confederates have been fighting for minds and voices on the right, arguing that they, alternatively than the Law and Justice have for years opposed liberal immigration policies.
Unofficially I hear in the Confederacy that it is the subject of immigration that gives Mentzen and Bosak the chance to enter the next level, that is, to get closer to Jarosław Kaczyński's organization in the polls and play as equal as ever. no of my interlocutors see what the Confederacy is doing now in terms of dangerous populism.
There are those in the Confederate who number on the support of president Karol Nawrocki and thus play on the nose of Jarosław Kaczyński. Confederates truly believe that Nawrocks have views much closer to the Confederacy than to the Law and Justice. Hence, among others, the thought of the Euro MP of the Confederation of Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik, who sent an authoritative request to Nawrocki to convene the Cabinet Council on the situation on the western border. And at a time erstwhile another tenant is inactive sitting in the Palace, and Nawrocki inactive doesn't have much to say until the swearing in.
“The subject of immigration is “eating”, so it is known that we will be warming it,” comments 1 Confederate politician. However, it states that this is not about political cynicism, due to the fact that very many Confederates and their constituents actually think so: uncontrolled immigration, even this legal one, is the origin of possible problems in the future.
"No immigration from Muslim countries"
A confederate, who convinced a fewer years ago that the free marketplace would solve virtually all problem in Poland, now speaks in a different voice. It is hard to find individual here who believes that Poland should massively let legal workers from abroad, if the marketplace so requires.
A completely different approach dominates the party. “As PiS ruled, large companies demanded that Poland be mass laboured. And Morawiecki agreed to it, gave approval to hundreds of thousands of worker visas. There's no way we can get back to that. It is simply a bad policy — I hear in the Confederacy.
— The most crucial thing is for our actions to be effective. With this attitude as the National Movement, we went to politics. The influx of immigration to Poland must be stopped,” says Onet, MP Michał Wawer of the Confederation.
The politician from the national wing of the Confederate gives the following prescription: — Border checks with Germany and Lithuania. In addition, 1 must halt giving distant the right to stay in Poland. Limits, point systems, "zero immigration from Muslim countries" must be introduced. We request to make a strategy and answer the questions about who we request in Poland, what workers and where from," he says.
“Theme Leaders”
There is no uncertainty that the subject of immigration is now the most crucial in Poland.
“PiS has compromised itself in the field of immigration. He launched mass, legal immigration to Poland. And now that he's no longer in charge, he abruptly changed his mind. We remember that, of course. I don't feel like there's been a large change in the Law and Justice department about immigration. There must be any people out there who think like us. But there are not many,” says Wawer.
For Confederates, immigration is the perfect fuel. It is easy for them to break political points here at the expense of the ruling coalition and partially besides the PiS. In addition, it is 1 of the fewer subjects in which nationalists and mentalists in the Confederation talk with 1 voice.
“Watch the Germans on our border”
— Right now, there's no difference between us. In fact, this has been the case since Mentzen took over in the liberal part of the Confederacy — I hear from 1 of the Confederate Members.
— Earlier, this part of the Confederacy looked at legal immigration through the prism of the economy and the free market. Mentzen sees otherwise that there are also external costs of bringing specified immigration to himself, says the Confederate.
It's a meridian discussion here for a cure. It's emotional. There are citizen patrols at the border. For any it is clear that the Polish state is not doing well at all, for others that the country is drifting dangerously towards Fascism.
— I support citizen patrols. They consequence from the fact that there are no appropriate political decisions at the level of Tusk and Siemoniak, which warrant the safety of Poles. While the situation has improved on the east border, the situation is very bad on the western border, says Michał Urbaniak, spokesperson for the Confederacy.
Bąkiewicz treated as a mole of the PiS
Urbaniak believes that on the Polish western border and on the border with Lithuania, “it is essential to reconstruct control, but not to annoy people.”
It is worth emphasizing that Confederates may praise civic patrols, but they powerfully revolve their noses at the character Robert Bąkiewicz, the face of the alleged Border defence Movement. O We wrote many times the reasons for this reluctance, but erstwhile it comes to immigration, Confederates accuse Bąkiewicz of being a businessman. — At the time of the regulation of the Law and Justice, which brought abroad workers to Poland, Bąkiewicz did not protest. At the time, he said that legal immigration was not a problem, according to Urbaniak.
The Confederate from the national wing has no uncertainty that the subject of immigration is highly crucial to many Poles. However, it does not want to find whether the Tusk coalition will yet lose power on this issue and the Confederacy will enter government salons. - I don't want to convict. It is certain that the Law and Justice Department has made large mistakes in terms of immigration policy, and this coalition is doing so — it is booming.
