From January to April 2025 foreigners established in Poland 13.7 1000 single-member business activities (JDG). Although 8% little than in the same period of 2024, they are inactive a crucial group among fresh entrepreneurs. Most companies are founded by Ukrainian citizens – informs the Polish economical Institute.
Less fresh companies, but a large share of foreigners
According to the Central registry and Information on economical Activity (CEIDG) data, the economical activity established by foreigners represented 14 percent of all JDGs registered in Poland in the first 4 months of 2025.
For comparison, the activities founded by Ukrainians were liable for 11 percent of the full fresh JDG. Compared with the same period in 2024, the number of fresh companies registered by foreigners decreased by 8 percent, while the number of fresh JDGs decreased by 3 percent.
Ukrainians and Belarusians in the lead
Nearly 80 percent of active JDGs registered by foreigners from January to the end of April 2025 are led by citizens Ukraine. In second place are Belaruswho are liable for 7% of abroad JDG and 3rd Germany – with a share of 2%, as in the erstwhile year.
Most companies in construction and information services
Among the industries selected by foreigners are:
- Construction – 22 percent of all JDGs,
- telecommunications and information activities – 15%,
- other service activities - 11 percent.
By comparison, in the same period of 2024 the most popular manufacture was information and communication (23%) and then Construction (19%) and other service activities (10%).
Country-of-origin industries
The industrial structure of companies founded by foreigners varies according to the nationality of the founder.
- Ukrainians and Romania most frequently open construction companies – 26 percent and 32 percent respectively their JDG operates in this sector.
- Belarusians, Germany, Russians, Italians, British, Americans and French more frequently they choose professional, technological and method activities.
- Among companies Ukrainian, Belarusian, British and French Information and telecommunications services besides contribute significantly.
