The United States Military Command in Europe and Africa reported on Monday in a communication about the planned movement of personnel and military equipment from Jasionka to another locations in our country. "It is part of a broader strategy to optimise US military operations, improve the level of support for allies and partners, and increase efficiency", the Communication states.
The decision of the U.S. Command is not a surprise, as already at the NATO Summit in Washington, which took place last July, it was established that NATO will be liable for the operation and defence of the Jasionka base. "An crucial work to facilitate the transportation of military aid to Ukraine by Jasionka will proceed under the leadership of Poland and NATO, with the support of the United States military presence. Poland and its allies will supply a solid safety infrastructure around this critical place," the American military wrote.
Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish referred to the case today. "War US stays in Poland! According to a decision taken at the NATO summit in Washington, the nature of the mission in Jasionka is changing," wrote the head of the MON on the X portal. As he added, the U.S. military tasks to date in Jasionka are taken over by successive allies.
The decisions taken at the last NATO summit are besides recalled by the Ministry of Defence in a communication published on Tuesday. "(...) It was decided in Washington that a fresh NSATU (NATO safety Assistance and Training for Ukraine) initiative will be launched, which will be liable for coordinating the supply of arms, ammunition and military equipment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as training Ukrainian soldiers. The process of taking greater work for NATO's support of Ukraine is underway." MON reports that the logistics hub has been securing Norwegian NASAMS systems and German Patriot batteries since January 2025. The skies of Rzeszow and our country are guarded by the Norwegian F-35, Swedish Gripeny, British Eurofighters. The Ministry of Defence reserves that "the number of US soldiers stationed in Poland at various locations (e.g. Poznań, Żagań, Powidz, Redzikowo, Bemowo Piskie, etc.) does not change and amounts to about 10 thousand".
The American message shows that their contingent will decision to another facilities in Poland. "Since 2022 (...) The U.S. Army, on the basis of agreements with the country-host and thanks to investments made by the Polish and American government, has formed the U.S. Army garrison in Poland and another permanent facilities," they explain to the military.
At the same time, Daniel Lawton, chargé d’affaires U.S. Embassy in Warsaw, thanked Jasionka's residents for welcoming American personnel and the support the Americans received during their three-year stay in Jasionka. "Your support is an example of close ties between our peoples and has strengthened the strength of our partnership. As we adapt to changing needs, this transformation allows us to keep our close cooperation while at the same time making more efficient usage of resources," the diplomat wrote.
As the Polish Ministry of Defence assured in the communication, Poland's cooperation with the US and NATO remains unchanged. "POLLOGHUB has been the central place for the transfer of aid to Ukraine since the second day of the war", stressed MON.
