Nawrocki's oath ceremony was held. Watching her, I felt that it was a nationalist, anti-state celebration and, above all, ecclesiastical.
Anti-State - due to the fact that in Nawrocki's message he said he was not curious in 10,237,286 people who voted for Trzaskowski.
And here comes my main dilemma: How is it possible that a man with specified grave moral charges received support from people for whom Christian values should be a signpost?
I do not belong to the Church, but I respect Christian values as a moral foundation. I love Poland, so erstwhile individual acts against it, I have the right to criticize it. Not out of hatred – out of care. I am sad due to the fact that how can religion in the Gospel be reconciled with support for a man whose past is violence, deception and contempt for the weak?
How a Christian can vote for individual who:
He stole an flat from a sick old man,
working with the mafia,
was a pimp,
took part in violent “statutory” criminal groups dealing with drug trafficking and prostitution,
falsifying documents,
He abandoned a sick ward, despite his commitment to care,
He vouched for a neo-Nazi with Hitler and swastika tattooed,
is addicted to psychoactive substances.
How can the Gospel be reconciled with contempt? A cross with cynicism? Community with banditism?
Is it adequate to go to church and say the word “God” to gain power, even if life is simply a denial of Christian values?
Why did Christians vote for Nawrocki?
Enslaved Minds and Propaganda of Fear – part of the electorate inactive submits to the propaganda of Kaczyński and church media with Fr Rydzyk at the head. Unreflexively repeats the messages of 'authorities', rejecting any another origin as 'fike'.
Intellectual lazyness – unwillingness to face facts and deficiency of interest in the candidate's past. The “Tusk fault” strategy acts as an autopilot: just against Trzaskowski, regardless of the morality of the another party.
Misunderstanding Ethics – there are besides those who know Nawrocki's past but justify it with “greater good”. But Christianity is clear: "Should we do evil, that good may come out of it? (...) It is right to condemn them.” (Rom. 3:8).
Questions Unanswered
Although I offered documents, recordings and statements of Nawrocki himself, I heard only repeated slogans: “Trzaskowski will teardrop down churches” or “give back Poland to Germany”. Nobody wanted to know the facts. And there are many questions:
Forgery of documents – does not admitting failure to pay out PLN 120 1000 disqualify morally?
Breaking a life sentence – does not abandoning a sick man prove utmost indifference towards one's neighbor?
‘Acts’ – is participation in violent fights a feature of the head of state?
Addiction – can a individual dependent on psychoactive measures make liable decisions?
Guarantee for a neo-Nazi Is that worthy of a Polish patriot?
Human trafficking charges Why isn't there a trial that could clear the case?
A Sad Conclusion
People can deny the truth, make morality “for their own use” and admit sin as virtue if it is politically convenient.
They can ignore the Gospel erstwhile it contradicts their choice.
But then they cease to be actual believers — only their participation in the ritual.
