There's support, but what's next?

Joanna Rostkowska of Amnesty global Poland emphasizes that not only the majority of Poles support the introduction of partnerships, but besides the Polish government is obliged to do so by the judgement of the European Court of Human Rights.

Union supporters, however, note that only political will to enable formalisation of partnerships is lacking. Mirosława Makuchowska, an activist who fights for LGBT rights, believes that for 20 years this subject has been facing opposition in the government and the Sejm, where a tiny group of MPs are blocking reforms for which society is ready.

Although it is known in advance that political clubs specified as the Confederate and the PiS will not support partnerships, the large unknown is the PSL. any members of this organization seem ready to support the government bill. Jarosław Rzepa of PSL stated that the government task takes into account all their comments and sees no problem in its adoption. Despite this, the leader of PSL, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, announced that the organization would present its own draft law on the position of the nearest person, as a consequence to the proposals of the Minister for Equality, Catherine Kotuli.
