Blinkerwall. A building 11,000 years ago found at the seabed

Blinkerwall was found in September 2021 during cartographic work. In February 2024, the magazine “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences” (PNAS) reported an different find. The underwater structure was examined by an interdisciplinary squad of scientists from the Baltic Sea investigation Institute in Warnemünde and universities in Rostock and Kilonia, led by professors Jacob Geersen and Marcel Bradtmöller. Podmorskie archaeologists utilized equipment of the latest generation, including echoprobes, sonars and underwater drones and created a three-dimensional model of construction. The wood fragments found in the layers under the structure are dated by radiocarbon method. The consequence is 10,500 years. – Our investigation has confirmed that the natural formation of this structure, e.g. via sea currents, tsunamis or glacier movements, is just as improbable as erecting it in modern times, e.g. erstwhile installing a submarine cable or during fishing.
