The 11th Armored Cavalry Division triumphed over the Polish Army Championship in Judo. In the squad classification of the Black Division judoka they overtook the squad of the 16th Mechanized Division and WOT. The squad tournament was won by a squad of military colleges. The best contestants of the event were announced by Cp. Sebastian Makowski and Mar. Karolina Miller.
Judocs – 100 players and 35 players – fought for medals in the Widowisko-Sport Hall in Elbląg. In the squad classification of the championship, which included points for individual competition and squad tournament, triumphed representation 11th Armoured Cavalry Division. 4 teams fought hard for the second position. It was won by a representation of the hosts of the event – the 16th Mechanized Division. The second in the classification squad by 3 mesh ahead of the territorials, by 4 – students from the representation of military universities – and 9 – sailors.
The Black Division representatives did not stand on the podium in the squad tournament (they took the 5th position in it), but in the medal classification they were the best thanks to trophies won in individual competition. The Judos of 11 DKPanc, like the territorials, captured 2 gold and 3 silver rings each. In turn, they overtook a squad of territorial defence troops with more bronze medals. The Black Division represented 4 of them, and the territorials one. The winning squad congratulated the results achieved General weapon Marek Sokołowski, Commander-General of the types of armed forces which is itself a judo instructor.
Major Tomasz Traczuk, Head of the Section for Physical Education and athletics of the 11th Armoured Cavalry Division, was very pleased with his triumph in the squad classification and with this highest number of points to rank competition in the Polish sport. “I believed in our judos that they would fight bravely for the final victory, but they truly amazed me with their attitude. They gave me a good surprise due to the fact that our representation has not won the championship squad in a long time. In judo another teams had more stars, so I have reasons to be pleased – admits the major.
In the squad tournament, the strongest squad exhibited representation of military universities. In the final, the Parachutes defeated the Navy squad of the Republic of Poland. The bronze medal was won by teams of territorial defence troops and the 16th Mechanized Division. In the "silver" team, the sailors fought the chosen best champion mar. Karolina Miller, and in the "brown" 16 DZ the best player of the event – Deputy Sebastian Makowski. The election was made by squad leaders. It is worth emphasizing that Karolina won all her fights before time – says St. Chor. staff. mar. dir. Adam Poździk, for years a justice at the WP championship, their multiple medalist and erstwhile coach-coordinator of the women's representation of the Polish Army in judo. Ensign besides highly evaluates the sports level of this year's championship and praises the decision to enlarge from the next lineup of the squad from 16 to 20 players.
