Organized on 10 May by territorial defence troops, the “Day of Pride with a Uniform” action is an chance for soldiers to present themselves in uniform in civilian environments where they operate on a regular basis. Seeing an worker in a corp or a production facility or a student in a college in uniform can be a surprise to the environment. However, there is simply a chance that this initiative will aid tame the public with a view of the uniform and let the military service ethos to be popularised.
In the last fewer decades, military uniform in practice disappeared from most Polish streets. There were respective reasons for this, the most crucial being the introduction of the authority for soldiers (instead of the obligation) to wear uniforms during the road from the place of residence to the place of service and back. Therefore, a large majority of soldiers chose to usage civilian clothing in specified situations.
In military units, duties are usually performed in field uniform, which becomes a regular dress, almost working outfit. As a result, the output uniforms hang in the cabinets and over the years shrink, which, as soldiers say, is simply a natural phenomenon (likely, the responsibility of the material from which they are sewn). Therefore, sometimes you can announcement the surprise and horror in the eyes of an officer or a sub-officer erstwhile after a fewer years you effort to get into your exit uniform to do any work outside the barracks, e.g. go to advanced school with a talk about the Polish Army for future graduates.
All those who have served or served in the military know the saying about the size of uniforms in the warehouse – “there are only 2 sizes: besides large and besides small”. As a result, field uniforms seem besides loose and baggy. "In the field" is an advantage, due to the fact that nothing restricts a soldier's movements. However, it happens that especially the female part of the military staff decides to make tailoring adjustments and as a consequence the uniforms look like tailor-made. This trend can be observed in most armies of the world, with the exception of American troops among others. The laymen attribute all credit to logistics, specifically to uniformed personnel of military economical troops (WOG), which can so well choice the right size of field uniform for the user.
However, being in uniform in public places, read: Outside military territory, there are restrictions. Military uniform by nature, on the 1 hand, attracts the attention of civilian surroundings, and on the another hand, obliges a soldier to consistent adherence to the rules of conduct. No 1 is amazed to see a civilian with his hands tucked to his elbows in the pockets of his pants or having an appetite for kebab while walking the street. In the case of specified behaviour of a uniformed soldier there would besides be comments, and surprise, and photographs on social media, and the reaction of the spokesperson of the home military unit that I will not mention another consequences. simply from a soldier who comes from society, the same society requires more than itself. This example allows us to realize why the military has implemented the rules without problem in fact allowing us to come to the barracks in civilian clothing. As I mentioned at the outset, it is now hard to meet a Polish military uniform on the streets of the vast majority of Polish cities and villages. After the business of the army in 2010, the notion of a soldier-citizen besides disappeared, who had to carry out essential military service and consequently the society began to "civilize".
The occasion to make the public aware that the soldiers are among us is the action of the territorial defence troops (WOT) “A day of pride out of uniform” on May 10. The Polish Army encourages soldiers of territorial military service and active reserve serving in WOT to present themselves in uniform in civilian environments in which they operate daily. Let the military uniform be present and visible in all schools, colleges, companies, establishments and corporations where territorials learn or work. And that they are presently served by about 40,000, it can be expected that this action will be recorded in at least a twelve 1000 places of discipline and work for respective 100 thousand, if not respective million civilians. It may be that many of them will experience a “cognition shock” erstwhile they see their friend in a military uniform, due to the fact that the military usually only see on the tv screen.
In the past of Polish military, this action is most likely the second time. The first venture of this kind took place between 1910 and 1914 in the Austrian partition, where branches of the firearm Union and Polish firearm Teams began to be formed. At the time, society was accustomed to the Austrian uniform, and to the “The top Lord”. So the commanders of both organizations wanted to form the affirmative and emotional attitude of the population to the Polish military uniform. As part of this challenge, the applause was organised in the theatres of Lviv and Krakow during the performances in which actors playing Polish soldiers performed. As shortly as an actor or an actor appeared on phase in a Polish uniform, the shooters present in the audience began to applaud, pulling the reaction of the remaining audience. In this way, within a fewer years the shooters managed to make affirmative emotions in society at the sight of the Polish uniform. The drop digs the stone and shooters, which is another installment of the Polish army, gained acceptance and support from civilians, essential to implement the plans of the irredents in the Kingdom of Poland.
It is to be hoped that this year's action will aid to tame society with a view of the uniform and let the ethos of military service to be popularized and to form pro-defensive attitudes in it, and the soldiers themselves will feel the benefits of working in a uniform outside the military unit.
I would like to congratulate the Commander of the Territorial Defence Army on this idea. It is not the first time the WOT has come before a series, which is simply a good sign of maintaining a continuous initiative in different directions of influence and on the military, and on the attitudes of society, which are, after all, part of the state's defence potential. If this venture succeeds, possibly the WOT will follow in the footsteps of the commanders of another types of armed forces, in which the allocations include reserve soldiers who were granted uniformation. I myself, being in the passive reserve for more than 2 years, have put my uniform on during the celebrations of state or military holidays and during lectures for future generations of possible soldiers. It makes me more credible to them.
