We have the approval of the Chief of General Staff of the Polish Army. Next year we'll be introducing the Grot Subcarabin. They will primarily go to tankers and artillerymen. Where the Grot firearm with a long 16-inch barrel is not required, Brig. Gen. Krzysztof Stańczyk, commander of territorial defence troops, announced during the conference "Grotowsko ‘25".
The Territorial Defence Army Command, which is liable in the military for acquiring the modular tiny Arms strategy (MSBS) Grot, has been organizing for 5 years with the weapon mill “Łucznik”, a firearm manufacturer, a conference “Grotowisko”. Soldiers from operating and WOT units and officers from uniform formations, e.g. from the Border Guard, come to Zegrz for a discussion on the conclusions of the usage of the carbine and plans for strategy development.
During this year's meeting, news came up. As promised Brig-Gen Krzysztof Stańczyk, WOT commander, the army wants to buy the subcarabins of the Grotto again this year, which means the construction with the barrel is six inches shorter than the standard variant of this weapon. – We have the approval of the Head of the General Staff of the Polish Army. Next year, we'll be entering the service. subcarabinki Grot. They will primarily go to tankers and artillerymen. Anywhere where no firearm is required Grot with a long barrel – he explained.
Grot subcarabines would be purchased under the annex to contract signed last year for deliveries of nearly 46,000 Grots, 13.5 1000 VIS 100 pistols and 1.3 1000 grenade launchers suspended to the Grotto. The contract was worth over a billion zlotys.
For now, there are inactive analyses of whether the Polish army decides to increase the mentioned order by respective 1000 subcarabins, or simply change the model of the part of the already contracted weapon. It is known that subcarabins would receive armored, mechanized, motorized and artillery subcarabins in 2026.
It's not the only news from the Grotowica. The representatives of Archer discussed work on another carbine version marked A3 and presented a fresh version of their latest 9 mm caliber pistol, the MPS marked “Army”. Seweryn Figurski, president of the Radom Weapons Factory, explained that it differs from the first publically shown MPS skeleton 2 years ago, as well as the trigger mechanics and the another profiled trigger language.
The weapon mill hopes that it is the MPS version of "Army" that will replace older-type guns and VIS 100 in the Armed Forces of Poland. – It is simply a natural successor of the VIS, designed according to the latest trends on tiny arms. Much lighter and more ergonomic than it was – he praised MPS Seweryn Figurski.
Will MPS be in service in the Polish Army? Time will tell.
During the meeting, the president of the “Łucznik” Department of Arms, Radom stressed that all the submitted comments and experiences concerning the Grots are inspiration for engineers in their work on improving the weapon. – specified confrontation of the end user with the maker should take place as frequently as possible. At the conference, we get information that is truly crucial to us. On the basis of these suggestions, this exchange of information, further versions of the carbine are created – explained Figurski.
