It was the largest military operation to combat the effects of floods. WOT soldiers, among others, took part in Operation Feniks. The territorials helped evacuate residents, conducted cleaning, delivered equipment and living. The documentary, which premiered present on YouTube, tells how they served in flood zones.
At 10 a.m., the first viewers could feel the atmosphere during the flood, which occurred in September 2024 in the south of Poland. The premiere of a documentary about the challenges WOT soldiers had to face with aid from the floods was held on the channel YouTube.
– The soldier of the Polish Army will not stand and look indifferently erstwhile his countrymen request help. This is the essence of being a soldier. In this mission we support the community, in another we will defend it – says in the movie General Wiesław Kukuła, Head of the General Staff of the HR. The protagonists of the paper admit that during this service there were hard moments, but it was "this kind of experience that forms a soldier."
How did Operation Feniks begin, which motivated territorialists, who frequently had to take care of their neighbors and their property, which was emotionally hard for them? Operation Feniks, which aimed to support the local population and then to clean up and rebuild the destroyed areas, began only a fewer days after the first sub-sink took place. The main flood wave has passed through many towns, including Dłuchołazy, Kłodzko, Lądek Zdrój. Residents lost their homes, devastated public buildings and road infrastructure. On 23 September, the military took action during Operation Feniks. It was carried out in the framework of the 3rd Armed Forces Mission, whose tasks include support for interior safety and assistance to the civilian population. Close cooperation with government and local government administration was crucial. "The operation focused on 3 key areas of infrastructure reconstruction, reducing the hazard of future floods and supporting civilians", recalls the DWOT press office. The operation ended on April 30, 2025.
