The enemy must be afraid of us. The competitor, erstwhile it comes to arms production, is to start to fear us, due to the fact that we can be competitive in many areas of defence," said Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the beginning of the company A tiny caliber ammunition chamber. After launching the production line, the company will produce a million firearm and pistol ammunition each day.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk took part in the authoritative launch of a fresh investment in Skarżysko-Kamienna. “We have talked many times about how many billions of PLN we spend in defence in Poland, in very different aspects. It besides means investing in ammunition, in weapons, in state-of-the-art equipment. We are doing everything to change these unfavourable proportions erstwhile it comes to arms spending, due to the fact that they indicate that imports have been favoured over the years," said the head of government. As an example of investing in the improvement of Polish production opportunities in the arms industry, he has just indicated the hall put into service in Mesko SA plants.
On an area of more than 4000 m2, there are 4 full automated production lines for the manufacture of pistol and firearm ammunition. The facility was commissioned as part of the “Project 400” implemented by Mesko. Its main goal is to increase the production of small-caliber, medium-caliber, large-caliber ammunition and multi-base rockets and gunpowder.
“We are at the conclusion of “Project 400”, but in parallel we are implementing “Project 44,7” which will let to mostly independent national production of ammunition from the supply of drugs from abroad”, said Renata Gruszczyńska, president of Mesko SA. She besides stressed that in fresh months it has importantly accelerated the pace of implementation of both projects. - We're done. investments that strengthen the company and increase State security. I can say with full work that we will shortly open a fresh chapter in the past of Mesko and the full arms manufacture in Poland – added Gruszczyńska. As she stressed, thanks to fresh investments in 2026, the company will gain importantly more capabilities to manufacture ammunition and rockets and will gain key competences in the area of multi-base powder production.
"Project 400" has been implemented in Skarżysko-Kamienna and Pionki since 2019. His budget is PLN 466.7 million, including PLN 400 million coming from the Reprivatization Fund with Mesko's own contribution of PLN 66.7 million. It concerns investments in over 1000 machines and equipment and over 20 facilities. In Skarżysko-Kamienna in addition to the ammunition hall, which was built from scratch, the last production building – the rocket hall – will shortly be commissioned. On the another hand, part of the facilities intended for the manufacture of large caliber ammunition were completed in Pionki. In March of that year, the reception of the technology line in 1 of the halls ended, and the receptions in the second building were planned for half a year. The complete completion of all construction works under task 400 is planned for December 2025.
The recently opened tiny caliber ammunition production hall increased Mesko's production capacity to 250 million rounds per year (with respect to erstwhile capabilities for tiny caliber ammunition). It gives 1 million rounds per day.
