The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenski, has directed the government to simplify the rules for going abroad for young Ukrainians. The president proposed raising the age limit – alternatively of the current limit of 18 years, the limit of 22 years would apply.
More young Ukrainians will go abroad
In practice, this means that more young Ukrainians will be able to leave the country. Zelenski's decision may surprise you, due to the fact that any of these young people will surely usage the chance to leave to avoid enlisting in the army.
It is besides known that present there are many young Ukrainians in many European countries who have decided to wait the war abroad and do not want to go to the front. The increase in the draft age may increase their number.
Let us remind: Ukraine is formally under martial law, with restrictions on abroad trips of men of draft age. Students from abroad universities, professional drivers or fathers of at least 3 children can travel without major problems. Others are prohibited from leaving.
Zelenski announced raising the draft age during the Ukrainian Youth Forum "Youth Here". He explained that the government and military authorities would be working on it.

According to British intelligence data, Russian losses in Ukraine have already exceeded 1 million people. Over a 4th of a million died, respective 100 1000 wounded. Ukraine lost over 400,000 soldiers, of which about 100,000 died.
