100th anniversary of the Air Force Academy in Dęblin

The celebrations of the Military Academy Aviation Jubilee were organized in Dęblin at the monument “Bohater pilots of the Oakland School of Orląt”. The ceremony took place with the participation of, among others, Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, WP commanders and local authorities. The event was framed by the Air Force Honorary Company.

President Andrzej Duda in a letter read during the ceremony emphasized the importance of the Aviation Military Academy as a centre cultivating the glorious heritage of Polish air force. As he pointed out, pilots and maintenance crew specialists here are not only heirs of tradition, but besides users of the highest-generation equipment. He stressed the importance of training on unmanned aircraft as an crucial component of military aviation. The president besides congratulated the university's prestige, which is the consequence of the work of teaching staff and a squad of academy staff.

Rector-commandant of the Military Academy General Brig. pil. Krzysztof Cur stressed that it has been here for a 100 years that the heart of Polish aviation has been beating. During the ceremony, commemorative badges were awarded to people who deserved to cultivate the tradition of the air force and military education, and WP medals and LAW commemorative badges were presented.

The academy itself received the 550th anniversary of the Lublin Voivodeship Medal “for its invaluable contribution to activities supporting the improvement of the region”.

At the sounds of the national anthem, the assembled guests could admire the craftsmanship of the pilots of the Akroblik squad on PZL 130 aircraft from the 42nd School Aviation Base, who flew over the heads of the gathered. Orląt School is the only institution in Poland to educate candidates for military pilots. He conducts military and civilian studies in 2 faculties: Aviation and Aviation Safety and in 2 Institutes: Navigation and Logistics and Transport, in six directions: Aviation and Space, Navigation, Air Safety Engineering, Logistics, Transport, National Security. In the university there are postgraduate studies, training as part of officers' courses for graduates of civilian universities, as well as qualification and improvement courses for professional soldiers, as well as training of reserve staff. presently in LAW, air education collects more than 1140 subjects and about 700 civilian students.
