Day 767
Today, many interesting news came out from the direction of Bachmut
The most intense fighting takes place on the northern flank of Chasiv Jaru
The situation in Bohdanivka is rapidly developing
I have previously reported that during the last period Russian forces have been struggling to make any profits towards the village, leaving the area comparatively calm.
However, fresh Russian sources have reported that Russian forces have conducted a series of powerful storms in and around the village.
Ukrainian sources confirm that the Russians have engaged artillery supported by drones to hit Ukrainian positions and weaken the overall Ukrainian defence in the village.
Ukrainian soldiers reported that Russian commanders fled to storm the infantry itself.
However, these attacks did not yield the expected results, the Ukrainians managed to halt Russian attacks and force them to dig and take positions in trenches and basements inside a tiny part of the village.
If we look at the topographical map, we will see that the Ukrainians control the highlands around the village, allowing them to detect and hit Russian forces in the lowlands and hinder their advancement by inflicting severe losses from elevated areas to which the Russians barely respond to fire.
Russian sources say Russian forces have made 100 metres of advancement within the village
The full depth of Russian advancement in fresh months has so been only 300 metres in the village, which extends along a road over 3 kilometres long.
Such a pace of advancement is far besides slow, and it would take the Russians months to take Bohdanówka with specified a costly approach.
However, a bit south of Bohdanivka the situation is very dynamic
Here the Russians tried to wing Ukrainian positions in Bohdanivka from the south along the railway tracks and long Ukrainian troops along the contract line, attacking Bohdanivka from 2 sides
The intent of this series of attacks was to force the Ukrainians to retreat from the village
To accomplish this, the Russians first conducted a dense bombing of Ukrainian positions located south of Bohdanivka, close Chasiv Jaru.
Russian bombardment with FAB gliders is highly destructive and can make Ukrainian positions incapable to carry out long-term defensive operations.
These bombings yet created conditions conducive to Russian attacks.
The main attack began with sending a group of 4 Russian BMD armored transporters to land infantry on a tree line close the railway embankment.
However, Ukrainian soldiers spotted the first vehicle and destroyed it on approach.
The second vehicle managed to drop the infantry, but was abandoned after an artillery rocket landed close it, possibly causing any damage.
The 3rd vehicle activated a landmine that disabled the vehicle, although the Russian infantry was inactive able to unload and decision to safe position in the tree line.
Finally, the 4th BMD was hit by an FPV drone, although without crucial damage, which allowed him to unload the infantry and be fortunate to be the only 1 in the column who returned to the safe zone.
Now, after securing these fresh positions, The Russians formed a kilometer-long bridgehead that could let them to attack Ukrainians in 2 separate approaches: towards Chasiv Jaru and towards Bohdanivka
Currently, Russian troops are about 500 metres from the east outskirts of the city, and they are separated from the main Ukrainian positions by a tiny forest
This gives the Ukrainians the advantage due to the fact that the Russians cannot carry out mechanized attacks through this area, limiting any possible Russian attacks to the infantry itself.
Russian soldiers must so face fortified Ukrainian positions in the city, which they cannot effectively do without adequate fire support from tanks and combat infantry wagons.
Therefore, Russian forces will gotta extend their control region south of the forest if they want to attack the city.
Russian control of this area can, however, be problematic for Ukrainians in Bohdanivka due to the fact that Russians can hit them from the south of the village from the forest side and force them to withdraw.
For this reason, Ukrainians urgently gotta counterattack to destruct the Russian foothold between the city and the village
Counterattack is simply a viable option due to the fact that the Russians have not secured positions in this area.
