This means that soldiers will be patrolling together with another critical infrastructure services, rail routes and communication nodes, peculiarly susceptible to hostile activities, by the end of August.
The decision to extend Operation Horizon until 31 August 2026 was issued by president Karol Nawrocki on Friday. According to a paper published in the Polish Monitor, mission launched last November to continue, inter alia, in connection with acts of diversion concerning railway infrastructure. Operation Horizon was extended by decision of the Minister of National Defence.
As Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish emphasises, the current safety situation requires close coordination between the services. "Polish soldiers will proceed to support the protection of critical infrastructure, crucial routes and strategical sites throughout the country. This is simply a consequence to the threats of sabotage and hybrid action. safety present requires presence, service cooperation and fast response! From the very beginning, soldiers of territorial defence troops are active in the mission.
