The draft law on the designation of the Silesian language as regional was re-directed to the National and cultural Minorities Committee after the PiS's request to reject it. The vote against the task was besides announced by the Confederacy. The support for regulation was expressed by all the forces of the ruling coalition.
During the Thursday (8.01) gathering in the Parliament of the project, Ms Monika Rosa (KO), explained that the task provided for granting the Silesian ethnolect regional language position – the same as the Kashubian language. The amendments besides include the composition of the Committee on the Common Government and National and cultural Minorities, which would be supplemented by 2 representatives utilizing the Silesian language.

During the second reading, support for the bill was expressed by the clubs KO, PSL, Poland 2050, the Left and the Membership ellipse Together. On behalf of Law and Justice, Wojciech Zubrowski stressed that the task is attempting to replace technological evaluation by a political decision.
We don't request to make artificial divisions where discipline sees unity. We must not treat language as a tool for political play, and government should be based on facts, data and opinions of independent experts. said Mr Zubrowski.
Among the opponents of the task was the Confederation, arguing that the task interferes with the natural improvement of the language.
– The language does not arise in cabinets, commissions, or in seismic printing. (...) The Silesian dialect is simply a branch of the Polish language, a natural component of its wealth, alternatively than an entity that needs to be artificially separated by administrative decision – said Witold Tumanowicz.
Mr Łukasz Ściebiorowski, who stressed that the issue afraid respect for citizens' rights and criticised the presidential veto, was opposed.
