More than 6,000 people have died in Gaza since then. Israel, for its part, claims that the nonsubjective of continuing the war is to return about 50 hostages who remained in Gaza. 30 of these people are most likely already dead. Hamas has stated that he is willing to release all hostages as long as a permanent truce is concluded.
